Purple Perpetual is organically grown in the Algarve Inland and certified by Ecocert Portugal. Its scientific name is Purple Globe Amaranth – Gomphrena Globosa. These flowers are harvested when they reach their final form and before the formation of the first seeds, to then start the natural drying process.
The infusion of this dried flower leaves the tea with a very appealing magenta hue and its taste is pleasant.
The Purple Perpetual Tea is traditionally used in infusions to take care of the vocal cords, as this plant is suitable for relieving cough and hoarseness, sore throat, laryngitis, but also stomach pain, working as an anti-inflammatory and anti-aging.
This medicinal plant is not indicated during pregnancy, lactation and also should not be used in children under 12 years of age, because there is no proof of its safety in these cases.
Put 2 tablespoons of flowers in a liter of boiled water and let it rest for 5 to 8 minutes. Strain and serve. If you prefer sweet, you can add honey to taste.
It is also used to decorate dishes and drinks. Purple in color, it combines well with cinnamon stick, mint and cucumber in a pleasant refreshment.
